The France Champignon Group
Tradition serving innovation

France Champignon is the world's second biggest player in the mushroom market. It is a cooperative group, born from the merger in 1997 of Royal Champignon and Champijandou.
The history of these two companies, and more particularly that of Royal Champignon, founded in 1868, positions the group as a key player in the Button Mushroom industry for over a century.

On the strength of this heritage, the group now has a unique expertise in the Button Mushroom market, which it has inherited from traditional know-how. However, the group's activities are not limited to button mushrooms.

The acquisition of Champiland and Compagnie du Mont Lozère, founded in 1986 and 1976 respectively, has allowed the group to integrate the expertise of the two companies, which are well known in the Woodland and Exotic Mushrooms industries.

The France Champignon Group now offers a dual expertise unique in the market, with an unrivalled variety of mushrooms.

In 2004, the group took a new turn when the investment fund Butler Capital Partners acquired a majority holding. The investments made since then have allowed the group to modernise its infrastructures to become more competitive on the world market and develop a major innovation programme in order to meet consumer expectations and keep up with changes in consumer trends.

A complete offer in a world market

Today, the group's expertise in the Button Mushroom and Woodland and Exotic Mushroom industries and its control over the various transformation processes mean that it can offer all types of mushrooms in all technology formats.

With its export section and dedicated sales departments for every distribution circuit, the France Champignon Group is able to deliver its products to all its customers and consumers anywhere in the world.
